“But for me the star of the show was Lina Saavedra as Ilia.  Her voice is stunning and her characterisation was quite brilliant.”                                                             John Manning, Herts Advertiser

Soprano Lina Saavedra, hailed by Opera magazine as ‘a gleaming presence,’ has established herself as a multifaceted singing actress, performing many diverse operatic roles: from Puccini, Mozart and Monteverdi through to Gilbert and Sullivan, and including rarities such as The Haunted Manor and Koanga. She has sung with various opera companies and orchestras, including the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall, with Pegasus Opera, European Chamber Opera, St. Albans Chamber Opera, and at the Buxton Festival.

Born in New York and raised in Puerto Rico, Lina received her undergraduate degree at Houghton College in New York, and upon settling permanently in the UK, attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, earning a Master of Music from Goldsmith’s College and a postgraduate diploma at Trinity College of Music.
